Erica Teller is the owner and director of A Step Above. She is originally from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area and started her love of dance at the young age of 3.

She has been trained in many forms of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, and ballroom. She was also able to dance competitively which gave her opportunities to take classes from various professional choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Frank Hatchett, and Dee Caspary. As she got older her love of the arts expanded into music and theater as well by participating in the high school band and community theater programs around the Milwaukee metro area.

Erica started teaching dance classes for her local parks & recreation program and at a private school before moving to Rio Rico, Arizona in 2005. She helped coach a dance team at Rio Rico High School from 2005-2006 under the direction of Celia Concannon,  has taught at Desert Sky Gymnastics, and taught classes at the fitness center in Rio Rico in 2007 and 2013-2014.
